Ensign Fleet 35 Spring Meeting Minutes

   Attendees: Colin Irish, Zeb Seaborg, David Manson, Ted Raymond, Neil Lynch, Jim Knape, Chad Lewis, Gordon Mortensen, Al Raymond, Lori Frak, Mike Twohey

Agenda

Planning for Nueman regatta dates.  With much sailing conflicts discussion focused on a date that doesn’t cause burn out.  Proposed August 6th and 7th by Jim Knapp.  Seconded by Wim.  Motion passed unanimously.

Chad Lewis volunteered to be race director.

Racing forms are available for download and will be available at MYC.

Committee Boat discussion.  Who will maintain it and commission it for the year.  Discussion also of light options for the boat.  Considering battery power vs. hardwired.  Jim will instruct Chad and Ted on the fineries of the boat.

Founders Race.  Honoring those who started the fleet 35 by way of a race.  Have a trophy with the list of winners.  Motion proposed to hold said race with a date to BD by Jim Knapp seconded by Ted motion passed unanimously.

2012 Nationals update.  Neil discussed organizational committee progress.  Race committee has been decided on Mr. Tichmann as race director.  Regionals will be an excellent opportunity to sell the race as well as Nationals and these dates are coming quickly.

Open Forum

Lori Frak discussed sending correspondence to potential corp. and general correspondence with a nice letterhead with an ensign letterhead.  Motion proposed to pay for 500 count letterhead with Nationals 2012 monies.  Wim proposed the motion to allow Lori to order with cost being paid by 2012 National fund.  Mike Towhey second motion passed unanimously.

Chad Lewis discussed the Ensign Sailor ed course offered by the MYC sailing school.  Plus debriefing after Wednesday night races.  Full racing instruction for ensign sailors will also be offered for a fee.  His company is also a Doyle sails rep for both repair and group orders for new sails.

Discussion by Al Raymond about the Rotary sail away event.  Possibly considering tying it in with White Rocks open class race.  And also adding the celebrity race to get more bang for the buck.
